Questions
- What is the NYC tax lien sale?
- The city sells liens on properties with unpaid property taxes, water and sewer charges or other charges. Owners are notified before the sale, and a lien sold to a trust can lead to foreclosure if it is not paid.
- Does being on the list mean the lien was sold?
- No. The city publishes the list at each notice stage, and many owners pay or enter a payment plan before the sale. The stage column shows which notice the property appeared on.
