Questions

What is a BBL?
A BBL is New York City's ten-digit tax lot number: one digit for the borough, five for the block and four for the lot. Deeds, tax bills, permits and violations are all filed under it.
Why does a condo apartment have its own BBL?
Each condominium unit is its own tax lot, numbered from 1001 up, while the building as a whole is billed under a separate lot.
