Method
- Cases: foreclosure cases in New York State Supreme Court that are tied to a New York City tax lot and are not marked disposed.
- Stage: the furthest step a signed order or docket entry shows. A case whose docket has not been read yet is counted as "not yet read" rather than guessed.
- Borough: the borough of the lot, from its tax-lot number.
- Refresh: counts are recomputed every few hours from Hercules's case records.
A filing is not proof of a sale. Cases settle, stall and are discontinued; that is why the stage matters.
